When the summer sun hits, it seems that spiders make their way into your homes to stay cool and out of the harsh elements.  And although you may see the ecological benefits of many spiders, you probably do not want them in your home. Luckily, there are some simple steps you can take to keep them out of your home.

Move Garbage Cans

Spiders love to feast on flies.  Because flies tend to gather around waste bins for food, you can count on spiders also being nearby.  Keep your waste bins away from your house and always keep the lids closed. This will keep flies away from your home and keep spiders closer to their food source.

Keep Outdoor Lights Turned Off Or On A Timer

Lights attract inspects.  Again, spiders eat insects for survival. This means you can expect to find spiders near your lights on porches or near your doors.  Prevent bugs from wanting to come into your home through open doors and windows by keeping lights off or on a timer. This will keep insects at bay – and spiders at a distance.

Get A Pet Cat

Cats are experienced hunters and will take care of any spiders they see crawling around your home and yard.  Cats can double as a family pet and help keep spiders out of your welcoming home.
