Bird Control

Bird Pest Control

Feral pigeons are the number one urban pest bird, creating a mess and causing damage where they roost thus creating a need for pigeon control. A short neck and small head characterize the standard pigeon, their short legs, hind toes and level front allow for both easy perching on pipes and ledges or walking on flat surfaces. Pigeons generally nest in small, flat areas away from the ground such as building ledges, air conditioning units or window sills. Occasionally pigeons may even lay eggs directly on a protected ledge.

Pigeon control is important due to the damage and disease these problem birds often create.

Facts To Think About

Pest Bird Damage

Pest birds cause tens of millions of dollars of damage every year to buildings, machinery, automobiles, roofs, ventilation systems and much more.

Pigeon, Starling, and Sparrow nests are often built in rain gutters, drains and corners of roofs where drains are located resulting in blockages that can cause severe flooding and water damage.

Bird droppings are very acidic. They eat away at many substrates, especially tar-based roofing materials. They also will fade paint finishes by actually eating into the protective coating and the paint itself. Droppings and nesting materials on or around a building send a message to the public that this building is not properly maintained.

One is forced to wonder how clean a restaurant’s kitchen could be if they don’t even care about t the bird droppings on their building or in front of their entrance. Pigeons enter attics of houses, apartments, restaurants, and other buildings through openings. Pigeons will then build nests and make it home.

Bird Diseases

Diseases need to be transported from place to place in order to spread. Birds are a perfect mechanism for spreading disease because they travel great distances, harbor over forty types of parasites and can host internally over sixty types of infectious diseases.
